The Copeland Distillery - The Next Chapter

The Copeland Distillery

Cut by the Ocean, Inspired by History

Since day one it has been our soul ambition to build a home for our spirits as close to the Copeland Islands as possible. Today marks a very important milestone for us as we sign a 125 year long lease on The Copeland Distillery, Donaghadee.

Situated back on the east coast of Northern Ireland is a former community centre and at one time an old picture-house. After lying derelict for almost 20 years we have confirmed plans to turn what was once a social hub for the community of Donaghadee into a newly restored distillery that will boast local heritage and history throughout.

The move to Donaghadee will see us leave behind our current premises in Saintfield, County Down, where we have been making gin for almost two years. The last two years have been extremely successful for us as we have increased our rate of production, our product range and our Copeland Family. Our move to our new distillery in Donaghadee is the next chapter in a new journey.

Work has already started on the building with the objective to keep as many original features as possible. One of the things we are most excited about restoring is the open stone wall at the back of the distillery. The open raw brick makes for the perfect backdrop for our still that is set to arrive at the end of March from renowned still maker Arnold Holdstein.

Along with our current range of flavoured gins we will be introducing new spirits to The Copeland Distillery including a distilled clear gin and whiskey. Our distillery is set to open during the summer of 2019 along with our visitor centre where we hope to welcome many friends, family and new guests.
